Welcome To:
SAIVA MISSION OF OTTAWA

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

To promote the SAIVAITE worship in the City of Ottawa and it's region thus maintaining peace
and harmony in Hinduism and other Faiths.

Our young History. Slow & Steady approach towards strong consensus for a First Saivaite Temple in Ottawa.
A Group of very Enthusiastic Saivaite conscious people of Ottawa organized a worshipping place in the year 1999.

It was held at a very small congregation place and weekly Friday Poojas and Bajans were held then.

As years passed by many personnel got involved and decided to form an authentic organization in Ottawa based on Saivaite principles.

Our long-term goal is to build an Authentic Temple as per "Saiva Agama Vithikal" (Saivaite principles).

First gathering and panel discussion was held on 28th July 2001, at the TORY building of Ottawa Carlton University.

It was unanimously decided to choose the name as "OTTAWA SAIVA MAHA SABAI" (Tamil), "SAIVA MISSION OF OTTAWA" (English).

Panel decided to elect the First Office bearers at the next meeting in the near future.
"OM NAMACHIVAYA SIVAYA NAMA OM"

An Introduction:
Saivam is the religion that worships
Lord Shiva. Saivam a very old religion
in the Hindu family of religions is
very rich in its philosophies. With its
vivid branches very well integrated into
the root, it becomes the feast, oxygen
and life of many philosophers. With the
matured philosophies standing on the
great Vedantic and Sidhdhantic strong
bases it presents to its followers
the great paths to the
Blissful Supreme called SHIVA.

SAIVAISM

Saivam , as it is called by the followers
of this religion is said to be in existance
for a very long span of time.

This Religion is one part of the six parts
of the Hinduism, Which worships Lord Siva.
(Called Sivapran or Sivaperuman in Tamil).

South Asians are the major followers of
Saivam. Archeologists hove found ample of
evidence to prove its very long period of
existence around the river valley of Indus,
in North India.

This area is said to be one
of the places where ancient
civilisations occured. The two cities
Mohenjedaro and Harrappa are
still being examined by the archeologists
the ruins of which were found recently.
